Terms of Service
Last updated 29 August 2026. Plain words, because you should actually read them.
1. The agreement
These terms are a binding agreement between you and Twofold ("we", "us"). By creating an account, joining a board, or using the service on the web or in the iPhone app, you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Twofold.
You must be at least 13 to use Twofold, at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to subscribe to a paid plan, and legally able to enter this agreement. If you use Twofold for someone else, you promise you are allowed to bind them to these terms.
2. What Twofold is, and is not
Twofold is a shared planning board for two people, with an AI assistant called Juno. It is a productivity tool. It is not a source of professional advice of any kind: not financial, investment, legal, tax, medical, mental-health, or relationship counselling. It is not an emergency service. Decisions you make, and their consequences, are yours.
3. Your account and your board
You are responsible for your account: keep control of the email you sign in with, and tell us promptly through the feedback button if you believe someone else has accessed it. We are not liable for loss caused by someone using your account with credentials you failed to protect.
A board is shared between the two people on it. Everything on the board (cards, notes, check-ins, photos, the shared room) is visible to both of you. Your private thread with Juno is the exception; your partner cannot read it. When you invite someone you are choosing to share your board's content with them; when you join a board you accept the same. If the two of you part ways, what you built together on the board remains visible to whoever stays, as described in the privacy policy.
4. Juno is an AI
Juno's replies are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude models). AI output can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, or inappropriate to your situation, even when it sounds confident. Prices, availability, and facts Juno reports should be verified before you act on them. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of anything Juno says, and you agree not to rely on Juno's output as your sole basis for any significant decision.
5. Twofold Plus: payments, renewal, refunds
The board is free. Juno is part of the paid plan, Twofold Plus, after a free trial (currently 7 days; length may change). One subscription covers both people on a board.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, whichever you chose, until you cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Bought on our website. The subscription is billed by Stripe. Cancel any time in Settings → Manage.
Bought in the iPhone app. The subscription (Twofold Plus Monthly or Twofold Plus Yearly) is sold and billed by Apple through your Apple ID. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase, and it renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID account settings; we cannot cancel it for you. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Your use of the iPhone app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. A board only ever needs one subscription: if it already has one, the other store will not offer a second.
Refunds. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable once a billing period has started. That said, if something genuinely went wrong with a charge, tell us through the feedback button and we will make it right. We would rather refund than argue.
Price changes. We may change prices. If a change affects an active subscription we will tell you in advance, and the new price applies only from your next renewal, so you can cancel first.
Taxes. Prices may exclude taxes we are required to collect; where they apply, they are added at checkout.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Twofold to:
harass, threaten, or harm anyone, including the person you share a board with; break any law or help someone else break one; upload malicious code or content you have no right to share; probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the service or its security; attempt access to accounts or boards that are not yours; resell or white-label the service; or use automated means to extract data from it.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice, and remove content that we reasonably believe breaks these terms or the law.
7. Your content, our license
Your content is yours; nothing here transfers ownership to us. You grant us only the limited, non-exclusive license needed to run the service: to host, store, back up, display to the two people on the board, and process your content, including with the third-party services named in the privacy policy, such as Anthropic's AI service, solely to provide and improve the features you use. This license ends when your content is deleted, except for residual copies in backups that expire on their own schedule. We never sell your content or use it for advertising.
You promise you have the rights to what you upload. If someone believes content on Twofold infringes their rights, they can reach us through the feedback button on ourtwofold.com and we will respond, including removing content where appropriate.
8. Our property
The service itself (the software, design, name, logo, and Juno's character) is ours and protected by law. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the apps as intended, and nothing more: no copying, modifying, reverse-engineering (except where the law allows it regardless), or building a competing product from it.
9. Service changes and availability
We are a small product that improves continuously. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We may discontinue Twofold entirely; if we do, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out, and refund any prepaid period we will not deliver.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Twofold is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that Juno's output will be correct. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or the cost of substitute services, even if we were advised such damages were possible. We are not liable for decisions you or your partner make in reliance on the service, including on Juno's output, and we are not a party to, or responsible for, disputes between the two people on a board.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for our own fraud or willful misconduct.
12. Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms or the law, you agree to defend and indemnify us: to cover the losses, costs, and reasonable legal fees that claim causes.
13. Disputes, governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before any formal action, you agree to try to resolve the issue with us informally first. Write through the feedback button; most things are fixable in a week. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Each of us waives any right to a jury trial, and claims may be brought only individually, not as part of a class action, to the extent the law allows such waivers. You may also be entitled to bring qualifying claims in small-claims court where you live.
14. Ending things
You can stop using Twofold at any time and delete your account in Settings; the privacy policy describes exactly what is removed. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including 7, 10, 11, 12, and 13, survive it.
15. The boring but binding parts
If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement; we may assign it as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the service. These terms plus the privacy policy are the entire agreement between us about Twofold. Events beyond our reasonable control (outages of upstream providers, natural disasters, and the like) excuse the delay they cause.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Twofold after that is acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Contact
Questions about these terms: use the Feedback button, bottom right of ourtwofold.com or in the app's Settings. It reaches a human.
